CLASSICAL PILATES

Classical Pilates is a movement system designed to improve and maintain spinal health while challenging and increasing flexibility, muscular strength and movement control.  It was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s

It is intended for everybody regardless of body type, injuries, or fitness level.  Pilates can be both therapeutic and an extreme workout for both the mind and the body.   Pilates can be as challenging as you want or as gentle as your body requires.  It grows and develops as your strength, energy, flexibility, concentration and coordination improve.

In Classical Pilates exercises are performed in an organized and deliberate nature to avoid compensations being made within the body and to facilitate safe and successful progression.  Movements are executed with attention to detail, protecting the body and ultimately eliciting maximum effectiveness.  Six key principles guide the Classical Pilates method: Concentration, Control, Centering, Precision, Breath and Flowing Movement.
